[May 23rd 2005]
SPRING IN BERLIN 2005 is history... and what
a great event it was.
I would call myself a regular at the SPRING
IN BERLIN events. I am there every year - and the event
was almost every year just great. But this year it was much
more than that. It was fantastic.
I will write a longer report of the event
later this week. So far here are the basics :-):
On Friday evening a bus picked us all up at
HRC Berlin at 6.30 pm and drove us to the 2nd Berlin HRC:
JOHNY'S HRC (don't ask me which one is better - Corporate
would get angry with me :-)
The bus was loaded with about 35 collectors
from all over Europe and beyond - plus HRC servers, managers,
Lovely Rita from HRC London and lots of HRC food and drinks.
Off we went to Johnnys home. What a house - what a garden.
It all was decorated for a great HRC party... the HRC staff
made burgers and bratwurst and other great food was served
- and great draft beer was available - all in HRC style.

- you can see how much fun we all had...
Later Johnny gave us a tour of his HRC - I
have NEVER seen so many great memorabilia items in a private
home... whow.

On saturday the Spring in Berlin Event took
place. HRC Berlin treated us very very good. We had a great
breakfast buffet (for free !!!), lots of space for all collectors,
a great raffle (almost everbody won something), and a nice
auction. Hottest item was a Teddy Bear Prototype which went
away for 900 EUROs (about 1,200 US-$s). All together we
made over 3,000 US-$ for charity - and it was a great day
of trading and chatting.

At 8 pm the big 13th Anniversary Party of
HRC Berlin started. A great Live Band performed - and during
the breaks HRC Berlin server Elvis made us all dance. Of
course YMCA-dancing and a big birthday cake were part of
the evening.
The pin collectors had the best table in the
house - and everybody enjoyed the evening a lot. Some danced
on the chairs - some even on the tables :-)

I can only tell you: I enjoyed the weekend
A LOT. The highlight for me was the Friday night party at
Johnny's HRC - but also saturday was just fantastic. Thanks
Johnny for that great FR night, thanks HRC Berlin (you folks
really treated us pin collectors like VIPs) - I'll be back
for SPRING IN BERLIN 2006.
